Water shortages in Australia are a serious problem, and in the most extreme cases it can lead to an entire ecosystem disappearing, experts say.
However, despite the dire warning, some aquarists have been buying up fish food, water and aquarium products, hoping to save their livelihoods.

“It’s a lot of money to spend on fish, so that’s why I do it, to help make my living.”
The problem is the fish are eating less fish in the aquaria they’re living in.
“There’s actually a bit of an underutilisation of the species in our system, which is something that’s really bad,” says McDonow.
“Aquarist fish have already lost out on over a third of their catch since 2008, and are being hit especially hard by the fish food issue.” “

They’re also getting a lot more disease and parasites, which are causing a lot less of the health of the aquarium, so it’s not healthy anymore.”
Some fish species, including tuna, have even disappeared entirely, according to McDono.
“You’ve got to be very careful about where you put your fish,” he says.
The fish are also not getting the proper nutrition. “
If you get a fish that you think is going good, then it’s likely to get better.”
The fish are also not getting the proper nutrition.
“They’ve been eating a lot in a short period of time and are having trouble getting their body fat and their bone density back,” says Mr McDonou.
“And so if you’ve got that kind of fish in a small aquarium, that’s going to cause some issues down the line.”
The biggest problem is that the fish have been getting a little too big.
“If they’re over a certain size, they’re going to be able to survive in a smaller tank, but they’re not going to do so well in a larger tank,” he explains.
“So there’s going be some stress, but the fish will be fine.”
Some aquarist are buying fish food to help their aquariums, and some are just feeding the fish in order to save money.
But the most important thing to remember is that fish are just a tiny part of the ecosystem, and it’s up to them to maintain the balance of their diet, Mr Mcdonow says.
The fish, for example, have a limited supply of protein, calcium, iron and phosphorus.
“This is really important,” he warns.
“All these animals need their food. “
They need oxygen and they need the right balance.” “

Mr Mc Donough says he is seeing a lot fewer fish in his tanks now, but he still feeds them fish food and fishes every few months.
“I’ve never had a problem with fish eating in my aquarium before,” he told ABC News Breakfast.
“Most of the time, the fish just get eaten, so I’m not sure what’s happening with that.”
He says his fish are all healthy, and that he’s been feeding them a diet that is high in protein and calcium.
“When they’re healthy, they’ll feed well.
They don’t need to eat very much,” he said.
“As soon as they get sick, they go to the veterinarian.”
